TRANSACTION TRACKER STATUS: Signing
The New York Red Bulls have signed right back Ethan Kutler to an MLS contract, the club announced on Tuesday. Kutler becomes the seventh player from the club's USL New York Red Bulls II side to ink a first-team contract.
Kutler signed with Red Bulls II ahead of the 2017 season after the parent club took him with their second-round pick (39th overall selection) in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. The former Colgate plyaer has made 25 USL appearances, scoring one goal and contributing two assists. Defensively, Kutler ranked fourth on the team in interceptions last year with 43 and leads the team in that category with 22 in 2018.
Kutler joins Tyler Adams, Aaron Long, Vincent Bezecourt, Florian Valot, Stefano Bonomo and Dan Metzger as players the Red Bulls have signed from their USL club.
“Ethan is another player that we think has progressed well during his time in USL, and he has earned this opportunity,” coach Jesse Marsch said in a statement. “He understands our style of play and what we ask from our outside backs. We know he will continue to work hard and will be ready if called upon.”
Red Bulls II have reached the USL playoffs in each of their three seasons of operation and won the 2016 USL Cup.
