Nine MLS Homegrown stars named to United States U-17 World Cup roster

The United States have released their roster for the U-17 World Cup, which includes 15 players from MLS clubs, nine of which signed to Homegrown contracts.

Head coach Raphael Wicky has called the likes of Gianluca Busio, Danny Leyva, Ricardo Pepi and other MLS-based wunderkinds.

The 2019 U-17 World Cup will take place in Brazil and features the U.S. drawn into Group D, where it will play Senegal on Oct. 27, Japan on Oct. 30 and the Netherlands on Nov. 2. The USMNT will attempt to top their best-ever showing in the tournament, a fourth-place finish in 1999. In the last edition, in 2017, they reached the quarterfinal round.

With three players each, NYCFC and the Seattle Sounders are best represented in the squad. Atlanta United, FC Dallas, LA Galaxy, D.C. United, Sporting KC and the Colorado Rapids are also represented.
