TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Update, Nov. 27: The Rapids made Drew Moor's signing official on Wednesday, announcing the defender was returning to the club on a one-year contract.
“Drew is someone who has meant so much to this club and we couldn’t be happier to welcome him home,” said Pádraig Smith, Colorado Rapids executive vice resident and general manager in a team statement. “His championship-winning experience and familiarity playing for Robin [Fraser] will be a huge asset in our locker room, especially for our young group of players.”
“We are extremely pleased to have Drew join our team,” said Robin Fraser, Colorado Rapids head coach. “He’s a player who has been a mainstay in the league for so long and every team he’s been on has been successful. His leadership and championship-winning experience will be extremely important to us moving forward.”
Original report, Nov. 25: A new report claims a key member of the Colorado Rapids' history is coming back to the club.
Jake Shapiro of the Denver Post reported on Monday that defender Drew Moor is set to sign a free agent contract with the Rapids for the 2020 season.
The 35-year-old spent the last four seasons with Toronto FC, after signing a free agent deal there ahead of the 2016 season. A key figure during TFC's treble-winning season in 2017, Moor has served a reserve role the last two seasons for the Reds.
Prior to his stint in Toronto, Moor spent seven-and-a-half seasons with the Rapids, helping them win the 2010 MLS Cup title. Moor was captain of the Rapids, and was an MLS All-Star selection in 2015. While he began his career with FC Dallas in 2005, the rugged center back is probably most associated with his tenure in Colorado.
The Rapids have been working hard to bolster their defensive corps under Robin Fraser, trading for Auston Trusty last week and making Lalas Abubakar's stay with the Rapids a permanent one. They also hinted more moves would be coming soon.
