TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Re-signed
Orlando City SC announced on Monday that midfielder Uri Rosell has re-signed with the Lions on a new two-year contract.
“We are thrilled to have agreed to a new deal with Uri to bring him back to the club for the coming seasons,” said Orlando EVP of soccer operations Luiz Muzzi in a statement. “Uri possesses great vision and his passing abilities add a great amount of control to our midfield. He’s a leader with the ‘locker room qualities’ we want for our club, so we look forward to having his veteran presence back within our squad in 2020.”
A product of FC Barcelona’s vaunted academy, Rosell, 27, began his MLS career with Sporting Kansas City in 2012, where he helped SKC win the 2013 MLS Cup before Sporting Clube de Portugal bought him in a transfer deal in June 2014.
He spent almost four seasons with the Portuguese giants as well as loan stints at Vitoria Guimaraes SC, CF Belenenses and Portimonense SC before returning to MLS in January 2018 to join Orlando. The Spanish tempo-setter has made 42 appearances (34 starts) for the Lions over the past two years, logging two assists in 3,166 minutes.
