The New York Red Bulls' newest Homegrown Player signing Omir Fernandez scored in the second half of the club's third preseason scrimmage on Saturday, helping his side fight back to a 1-1 draw against Orlando City SC.
Before the break, new Ecuadorian signing Sebastian Mendez converted a penalty he earned himself to put the Lions in front in what was their first live-match action of preseason.
The Red Bulls will relocate to Arizona for the next phase of their preseason camp, and will face 2018 USL Cup finalist Phoenix Rising on Feb. 10. Two days later, Orlando play the Philadelphia Union in the first game of the Orlando City Invitational.
