TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Trade
New York City FC acquired midfielder Tony Rocha from Orlando City SC on Wednesday, in exchange for a fourth-round SuperDraft pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.
Rocha, 25, joins NYCFC after spending seasons with Orlando, where he made 23 appearances and tallied four assists for the first team between USL loan spells at Orlando City B in 2017 and Saint Louis FC last season. A product of the University of Tulsa, the Texan also spent time in USL with the now-defunct Austin Aztex earlier in his career.
“I really like Tony as a player and he’s proven to be extremely versatile during his time in Orlando,” said Cityzens coach Dome Torrent in a statement. “Playing both midfield and defense, we think he’ll fit our system quite well and provide us with quality depth across the pitch.”
It’s the latest in a string of roster moves for Orlando this week, as the Lions wade into what’s expected to be a busy offseason following a difficult 2018 campaign.
