Toronto FC begin their quest for an eighth Voyageurs Cup and fourth in a row, when they enter the 2019 Canadian Championship in the semifinals against the Ottawa Fury Wednesday night at TD Place Stadium.

The second leg will be played at BMO Field on August 14. The winner meets either the Montreal Impact or Cavalry FC in the two-legged final. The teams met in the semifinals a year ago with Toronto FC winning 4-0 on aggregate.

Ottawa Fury

The Fury reached the semifinals for a fourth consecutive year, edging HFX Wanderers, 5-4, on aggregate in the third qualifying round. Thiago struck for a brace and Maxim Tissot scored the winner in the 67th minute in a 3-2 first-leg win in Halifax. Ottawa rallied from a two-goal halftime deficit to level on goals by Onua Obasi and Christiano Francois in a 2-2 draw in the second leg at TD Bank Stadium.

The Fury are coming off a scoreless draw against Birmingham Legion in the USL Championship Friday.

Toronto FC

Toronto FC enter the competition coming off a 2-0 loss at the New York Red Bulls Saturday at Red Bull Arena. Jozy Altidore had a goal called back against his former team in a dominant first half for the Reds, who were unfortunate to go into halftime scoreless. An own goal by Chris Mavinga on a cross attempt by Kaku broke the stalemate in the 55th minute and Kemar Lawrence closed the game out in second-half stoppage time after Justin Morrow was sent off for DOGSO.
