Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to make history against LAFC.
A year after his audacious first goal on his MLS debut helped the LA Galaxy rally fo a win in the first-ever El Trafico, the Swedish icon, part Lion, part Ferrari, was perfect in a 3-2 win over LAFC at Dignity Heath Sports Complex Friday night.
Well, he wasn’t perfect — though Ibra might argue he is — his hat trick was. It was the fifth “perfect hat trick,” which consists of goals with the left foot, right foot and head, in the last decade in MLS.
Patrick Mullins was the last to do so in 2017 as part of a four-goal night in a D.C. United win over the San Jose Earthquakes Sept. 23, 2017.
No player in MLS history has more hat tricks than Josef Martinez (six). The Atlanta United forwward also had his perfect hat trick in 2017.
Didier Drogba accomplished the feat in the Montreal Impact’s 4-3 win over the Chicago Fire Sept. 5, 2015, one of two hat tricks in MLS for the Chelsea legend.
Brian Ching did it in 2010 when the Houston Dynamo legend struck for three goals in a 4-3 win over the Chicago Fire.
