Perry Kitchen has gotten his European career off to a fast start, but it appears that there will be no Lambo for this Jambo.
Kitchen, who moved from D.C. United to Scottish Premier League (SPL) club Hearts of Midlothian (nicknamed Jambos) in March after his contract expired, won the 2015 MLS What’Cha Got competition to snag a year-long lease of a Lamborghini. According to The Scottish Sun newspaper, he wanted to ship his ride to Edinburgh for the remainder of the year, but he’s been barred from doing so, meaning the Lamborghini will stay in the States while Kitchen plays in Edinburgh.
The 24-year-old midfielder will presumably get a chance to drive the Lamborghini in the US during Hearts’ offseason, which will begin after they play their final match of the season on Sunday. Kitchen and the Jambos are locked into the third-place spot in the SPL, meaning they’ll earn a spot in next season’s UEFA Europa League.
Kitchen is awaiting word to find out whether he will be part of the USA's 23-man Copa America Centenario roster. He's on the preliminary 40-man list which will need to be cut down by May 20.
