Philadelphia Union Forward David Accam Voted MLS Player of the Week
NEW YORK

– Philadelphia Union forward David Accam was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Week for the fourth week of the 2019 MLS season.
Accam helped the Union to a dominant 3-0 victory over Columbus Crew SC at Talen Energy Stadium on Saturday with two goals and one assist in his first start of the season. The victory extends Philadelphia’s unbeaten streak to two matches as the club sits tied for seventh in the Eastern Conference with four points (1-2-1 overall record).
The Ghana National Team member opened the scoring in the 31

minute, finding himself free behind the Crew SC defense just outside the box off a perfectly placed pass from Fafa Picault. Accam calmly finished with a left-footed shot far post to give the Union a 1-0 advantage (

Accam completed his brace in the 41

minute to extend Philadelphia’s lead to 2-0 when he split two defenders in the box to create enough space for a near-post finish (

Philadelphia returns to action on Saturday, March 30 when facing FC Cincinnati at Nippert Stadium (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+).
The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
