TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
The Philadelphia Union have signed defender Aurelien Collin, the club announced Tuesday. Collin spent the last three seasons with the New York Red Bulls.
Collin, who will turn 33 in the beginning of March, is a former MLS Best XI member, three-time All-Star and MLS Cup MVP, which he won in 2013 with Sporting Kansas City. After playing at least 1900 minutes every season between 2011-16, with SKC, the Red Bulls and Orlando City SC, Collin featured in a total of 16 matches over the last two seasons.
“Aurelien is an incredibly decorated player who adds important leadership and veteran qualities to our locker room, particularly with our young defenders,” Union sporting director Ernst Tanner said in a statement. “His ledger of trophies and accomplishments speak for themselves. He knows what it takes to win in this league and we look forward to welcoming him to our club.”
Collin will add experience and depth to the Union backline, which features the league's youngest center back tandem in Mark McKenzie and Auston Trusty.
