Atlanta United may have picked up their first home win of the 2019 MLS regular season in Week 9, but just before the winning goal came a moment of frustration from their big offseason addition.
Gonzalo "Pity" Martinez started the match and played 71 minutes, coming off the field for Hector "Tito" Villalba with the score still deadlocked at 0-0 against the Colorado Rapids, who entered the match with the league's worst record.
The Atlanta broadcast showed the Argentine taking his frustration out on the team bench, presumably for the early exit, as teammate Brek Shea, who was subbed out at the same time, appeared to offer some support.
"Pity" Martinez, 25, was acquired for one of the highest ever transfer fees paid by an MLS club, arriving from South American powerhouse River Plate after winning the Copa Libertadores. He has appeared in six MLS league games to date, with three starts, but he is still looking for his first goal and first assist in MLS.
It's worth noting that just minutes after the substitution, Atlanta United found the breakthrough goal, as Villalba kept a play alive along the endline, which led to Julian Gressel's winner in the 74th minute.
