The Portland Timbers are taking supporters behind the scenes of Sebastian Blanco's recovery from an ACL tear in his right knee through a series called Blanco Beyond, sharing the first episode via Twitter on Wednesday.
The first episode follows Blanco and the Timbers on the day he sustained the injury, the team's 2-1 win at the Seattle Sounders on Sept. 6, 2020. Blanco picked up the injury only a minute into the game, and the player said he know right away it was a serious one.
"I know in the first moment, because I remember my last injury with my left, I know in the same moment that it was was a serious injury," Blanco said in the video. "I remember I told Diego Valeri, 'Please stop the game.'"
Valeri, Timbers head coach Givoanni Savarese, and director of rehabilitation Matt Weston also make appearances in the video to chronicle the event. The remaining episodes are expected to detail Blanco's recovery from the injury while his teammates continued on to finish the season.
