Real Salt Lake are spending the first leg of their preseason training outside San Diego, and the Claret & Cobalt are set to cross the border on Tuesday for a friendly against Liga MX’s Club Tijuana.
Tuesday’s match will serve as a bit of preparation for RSL’s CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal series against Mexican side Tigres, which is set to kick off in Monterrey on February 24.
RSL head coach Jeff Cassar told the club’s Web site to expect the team to focus on their defensive responsibilities on Tuesday and that he’d play two different lineups in each half, with a few exceptions.
“Where we really want the group is not thinking about Tijuana, just thinking about us,” Cassar said. “Thinking about what we want to do defensively, where we want to win the balls, what’s our intensity like in those areas and coming out of it not getting hurt.”
