TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Momentum around FC Dallas and US men’s national team right back Reggie Cannon heading overseas continues to mount, with a supporters’ group president noting that the Homegrown defender has “all but” confirmed his exit.
Luis Dollar, president of El Matador, tweeted that Cannon essentially said goodbye after Sunday night’s 0-0 weather-delayed draw against Nashville SC. Before the weekend, MLSsoccer.com’s Tom Bogert reported that Dallas received an offer from English Championship club Barnsley for Cannon amid widespread European interest.
Cannon, 22, signed with Dallas ahead of the 2017 season, though became a penciled-in starter in 2018. He’s since made 66 appearances (63 starts) and registered two goals and five assists. Back in March, Cannon signed a four-year deal with his hometown club.
On the international scene, Cannon has earned 11 caps since debuting in an October 2018 friendly against Peru. He also played Division I soccer at UCLA in 2016.
