TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report
Atlanta United may be close to signing former Argentina forward Lisandro Lopez, according to a report from Cesar Luis Merlo of TYC Sports. Per the report, Lopez would sign a one year deal with Atlanta.
Lopez confirmed this week in a press conference that he would end his second stint with Racing Club, the club whose academy he came up through before making his professional debut in 2003. The 37-year-old stated that he wanted to continue his playing career, and that he is close to joining a club in the United States, per The Athletic's Felipe Cardenas.
Lopez spent much of his career in Europe, playing for the likes of Porto and Lyon, and also enjoyed stints in Qatar and Brazil. He would be one of Gabriel Heinze's bigger signings ahead of the coach's first season with Atlanta, and would be part of a growing contingent of forwards as Erik Lopez will join the team after signing in August.
