Montreal's Ambroise Oyongo and New York Red Bulls loanee Anatole Abang have worked their way into the Cameroon national team picture, and it seems that European clubs have noticed them, too.
That's the word from MSG Network's “Red Bulls Insider” (and MLSsoccer.com contributor) Kristian Dyer, who reported during the pregame show of Sunday's New York-Columbus match that both players have drawn interest from suitors on the other side of the Atlantic.
Dyer noted that Oyongo, who began his MLS career with New York before moving to the Impact in January 2015, has garnered interest from clubs in Belgium and France. A left-footed player who can play in either fullback spot or along the left wing, Oyongo has seen substantial action for Cameroon this year. He's started 24 games for Montreal, notching five assists.
Abang scored four goals and an assist for the Red Bulls in just 392 minutes of MLS play last season. But the 20-year-old striker fell down the RBNY pecking order this year and was loaned out to Danish side Hobro IK in August. Dyer stated that Swedish heavyweights Hammarby – former home of Crew SC head coach Gregg Berhalter – as well as Denmark's Brøndby IF are taking a long look at Abang.
Dyer dished out another bit of transfer-market scuttlebutt, this time in regards to the LA Galaxy, who he said have been strongly linked to Mexican youth international Ulises Rivas. The 20-year-old defensive midfielder currently plays for Santos Laguna and was a mainstay in the El Tri youth squad that reached the championship final of the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
