TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report
Following a report earlier this month that Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris is set to sign a big contract extension this offseason, it sounds as though something similar will be happening for teammate Cristian Roldan.
Sounder at Heart reported on Wednesday that Roldan will sign a five-year deal valued at $4 million total. According to the report, all five years are guaranteed.
Roldan, 23, is coming off a third consecutive season in which he played at least 33 MLS regular season games for the Sounders. The midfielder, proficient at both playing in the middle and out wide, in a defensive, attacking, or blended role, has 14 goals and 16 assists in 122 MLS regular season appearances to date. The California native helped the Sounders win the 2016 MLS Cup.
Roldan is also a US international, and was called up to the January training camp by new USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter.
