UPDATE (THURSDAY, 7:30 PM ET): The Washington Posthas more details on Acosta's whirlwind Thursday. Per the Post's report – and contrary to previous reports – the deal fell through after PSG and D.C. failed to agree on a transfer fee. United reportedly expected a $10 million offer for the player, and while PSG reportedly raised their initial $7 million offer to $8 million while offering to make up the difference should Acosta hit certain incentives, it was not enough for the two clubs to agree on a deal.
UPDATE (THURSDAY, 5:30 PM ET): Reports from PSG blog Paris United and French radio station RMC indicate that the deal for Acosta has fallen through at the last minute. The Argentine was in Paris on Thursday and reportedly even had his medical with the Ligue 1 champs, but PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel allegedly vetoed the deal.
The deal's collapse was subsequently reported by the Washington Post's Steven Goff and The Athletic's Pablo Maurer.
UPDATE (THURSDAY, 8 AM ET): On Thursday morning Jonathan Johnson, ESPN's PSG correspondent, reported that a source confirmed Acosta is PSG-bound as the club and United have agreed to a fee less than €10 million.

WEDNESDAY, 11 PM ET: One of the biggest clubs in the world has reportedly made an eight-figure offer for one of MLS's top playmakers.
The Washington Postreported late Wednesday night that Paris Saint-Germain are making a push for D.C. United midfielder Luciano Acosta before the close of the European transfer window on Thursday evening. One source places the bid in the $10 million range.
The article states that Manchester City and another English Premier League club have also entered the picture for Acosta, who left training camp on Wednesday evening to fly to Europe, in case a physical is required prior to the transfer deadline.
Acosta had his best season in MLS in 2018, taking off upon the arrival of Wayne Rooney in the summer. He ended the year with 10 goals and 17 assists and was named to MLS's Best XI.
The Athletic reported earlier on Wednesday that United had turned down a bid from a Saudi Arabian club and were working on re-signing the Argentine to a lucrative new contract.
The diminutive playmaker joined D.C. on loan from Boca Juniors prior to the 2016 season and his contract was purchased outright a year later. In three seasons with the Black-and-Red, he has 18 goals and 33 assists.
