TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
With D.C. United apparently winning the MLS silly season with word of numerous incoming blockbuster transfers afoot, word comes that one possible outgoing move has been nixed — for now.
A bid for midfielder Russell Canouse from 2. Bundesliga side Dynamo Dresden has been rejected, according to Pablo Maurer of The Athletic, who also reports talks remain ongoing.
The Washington Post first reported interest in the 24-year-old from the German side last week. Maurer reports Dresden are looking to shell out in excess of $300,000 to bring Canouse over on a six-month loan.
The versatile Canouse, who has been a standout defensive midfielder while also seeing time at right back, has made 52 regular-season starts in three seasons since arriving at D.C. United following a transfer from Hoffenheim midway through 2017. The native of Lancaster, PA came up through the New York Red Bulls academy before joining Hoffenheim’s academy in 2011.
He made his Bundesliga debut in 2016 before going on loan with 2. Bundesliga side Vfl Bochum, where he made 20 appearances.
