TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Russell Canouse could be the next young American midfielder to make the move to Germany. Or back to Germany, in his case.
The 24-year-old D.C. United defensive midfielder has reportedly garnered interest from SG Dynamo Dresden, currently last in 2. Bundesliga, according to Steve Goff of the Washington Post.
Canouse, who also plays right back, has made 52 regular season starts in three seasons since arriving at D.C. United following a transfer from Hoffenheim midway through 2017. The native of Lancaster, PA came up through the New York Red Bulls academy before joining Hoffenheim’s academy in 2011.
He made his Bundesliga debut in 2016 before going on loan with 2. Bundesliga side Vfl Bochum, where he made 20 appearances.
Canouse has competed for the United States at the U-20 level and has been called into January camp for the US national team the last two years, though he has yet to receive his first full international cap.
