Eagerly awaiting the Charlotte MLS expansion team’s name, logo and colors? That wait reportedly will be a bit longer than expected.
The announcement was originally planned for this month, but with the COVID-19 pandemic still spreading and a national uprising over systemic racism in the United States, the decision was made to hold off for now.
“With everything going on in the world we feel like it’s not the right time,” a club source told the Charlotte Observer, adding that the announcement is still coming “soon.”
How soon? It could be next month, the source said.
The team, which will play its home games at Bank of America Stadium, remains on schedule to compete in the 2021 MLS season.
