TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Saturday's game against the Houston Dynamo appears to be the end of the road for Fanendo Adi with the Portland Timbers.
After reports from MSG's Kristian Dyerand MLSsoccer.com's Sam Stejskal emerged this week that Adi has asked to be moved and the Timbers were looking to grant his wish, a new report from Jamie Goldberg of The Oregonian on Saturday claims a deal is in place, and Adi, who is on the bench for the Timbers for the match against the Dynamo, will leave the team after the game.
Goldberg's report did not indicate whether Adi will be traded within MLS or transferred outside the league. Stejskal's earlier report said Adi's preference was to stay in MLS.
The 27-year-old, in his fifth season with the Timbers, scored 53 goals in 125 MLS regular season appearances and played big role in their 2015 MLS Cup triumph. But after an injury last August sidelined him for the season, his production under new Timbers manager Giovanni Savarese has been below his previous standards, notching two goals and two assists in 13 MLS regular season appearances this year.
Adi entered the match against Houston in the 75th minute with the score 1-1 to rousing applause from the Timbers faithful.
And scored the game-winner five minutes later.
