Honduran fullback Emilio Izaguirre tells Honduran outlet Diez that he is returning to his club in Saudi Arabia to seek a release in pursuit of a move to Major League Soccer.

The 32-year-old Izaguirre moved to Saudi side Al Feiha following an eight-year run at Scottish giants Celtic, in part because of a legal dispute with an agent.

Izaguirre tells Diez he wants to move to MLS partly for family reasons, and partly out of a desire to be more connected to the Honduran national team setup.

Izaguirre has 78 caps, according to Soccerway, and was a member of the Catrachos' 2010 and 2014 World Cup sides. But travel from Europe led to him appearing less than he would like in other international matches.

“My agent told me that there could be offers from MLS, and there I would be closer to the national team next year, when the Gold Cup is played, because I’ve only played in one and it was in 2007," Izaguirre tells Diez. “I will speak with the directors [at Al Feiha], we have a date of June 21.”

Izaguirre would find several current and former international teammates in MLS should he make a move. Alberth Elis leads a trio of three Catrachos with the Houston Dynamo, Roger Espinoza is a longtime fixture with Sporting Kansas City, and Maynor Figueroa is in his fourth season with FC Dallas after spending several seasons earlier in his career in Europe.
