TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report
The David Beckham-led Miami MLS expansion team has yet to establish its full identity or begin construction on its eventual home.
But according to Beckham’s partner, Jorge Mas, at least one World Cup star is considering the fledgling project a destination.
In a wide-ranging interview with the Miami Herald’s editorial board, Mas revealed the juicy nugget that a “very high-profile” player from World Cup finalist Croatia is “extremely interested in coming to Miami.”
The highest-profile player on Croatia, of course, is Luka Modric, who won the Golden Ball on Sunday and currently plays for Real Madrid.
Mas, who said he adopted Croatia as one of his favorite teams during the World Cup, hit on a lot of other topics during the interview, including when the team’s name will be unveiled and the latest chapter in the stadium saga.
