Nashville SC have acquired midfielder Dax McCarty from the Chicago Fire and defender Dave Romney from the LA Galaxy in separate trades, according to Paul Tenorio of The Athletic. A league source confirmed the Romney deal to MLSsoccer.com.
McCarty, 32, is a veteran midfielder who has made 361 appearances in the league with FC Dallas, D.C. United, the New York Red Bulls and, most recently, the Fire. He won two Supporters' Shields with the Red Bulls as a vital member of the team. While captain at RBNY, McCarty was memorably traded to Chicago for $400,000 in General Allocation Money.
The midfielder made 32 starts for Chicago this season.
Romney, 26, has spent the last five seasons with the LA Galaxy, earning a deal after impressing with LA Galaxy II. He has made 84 appearances over the years, including 12 this season.
McCarty and Romney join Nashville's inaugural roster alongside the likes of Hany Mukhtar, Anibal Godoy, Randall Leal, David Accam and others.
