After a strong debut season in MLS, New York Red Bulls left back Kemar Lawrence has seemingly attracted more suitors in England.
That's the speculation, following a Yahoo.com report by Kristian Dyer that two clubs, English Premier League side Leicester City and Championship team Reading FC are mulling over whether to make an offer for the Jamaican international.
The Red Bulls announced this week that Lawrence was one of 21 players currently under contract for the 2016 season.
The 23-year-old, who joined New York in March and quickly established himself in Jesse Marsch's lineup, played 23 regular season games, scoring one goal and adding four assists. He started all four of the Red Bulls' playoff matches in 2015.
Lawrence also turned heads around the world this summer, as he distinguished himself at the Copa America before helping Jamaica reach the CONCACAF Gold Cup final for the first time in national team history.
Leicester City are the surprise package in the English Premier League this season, and against all projections they currently sit in second place in the table, tied on points with leaders Manchester City.
Reading, meanwhile, have split time in the Championship and Premier League in recent seasons, but are in ninth place in the second division. The club, which features US international Danny Williams as well as two of Lawrence's Jamaican national teammates, has been linked to another MLS player in recent days -- LA Galaxy attacker Gyasi Zardes.
Despite their position in the table, Reading on Friday dismissed their manager Steve Clarke following a recent league loss.
