TRANSFER TRACKER:Report
Gaston Sauro has had an up-and-down tenure with Columbus Crew SC, but a report out of Argentina claims the defender is in demand around the world.
Rosario 3 reported on Wednesday that Newell's Old Boys and an unnamed MLS team are interested in Sauro in the upcoming Secondary Transfer Window. Newell's are coming off a midtable season in the Argentine Primera, finishing 15th out of 26 teams.
Sauro, 29, is in his fifth season with the Crew, and has gotten close to hitting a career high of MLS appearances this season, with 11 regular-season starts to date, two goals scored. The Argentine, a Rosario native who got his start at Boca Juniors, has battled injuries throughout his Crew tenure, and has played just 35 regular-season games total.
