The Seattle Sounders will be without midfielder Harry Shipp and defender Brad Smith when they host Colorado this Saturday night (4 pm ET | Full TV & streaming Info).
Both players are sidelined with hamstring injuries, and figure to need two to three weeks before returning to the field, according to head coach Brian Schmetzer.
Schmetzer met with the media following a midweek training session, and the health of Shipp and Smith – two key contributors to Seattle’s second-half surge into playoff contention – was a topic of discussion.
“They were sitting together on the training table, both of them,” he said. “Same injury.”
Still, the Sounders boss said he’s confident that the rest of his team will step up in their absence. Coming off a 3-0 defeat against the LA Galaxy last weekend at StubHub Center, Seattle now face back-to-back home games.
Will Bruin could figure into Schmetzer's starting XI going forward — as he did on Sunday with Shipp out — while Nouhou Tolo is likely to re-gain his starting left back role with Smith out.
Meanwhile, the club released episode one of “HEART: Jordan Morris” this week, which goes behind the scenes to chronicle the young forward’s road to recovery from a season-ending ACL injury.
The series begins with a flashback to the moment of the injury and its immediate aftermath, told from the perspective of Morris and his father, Dr. Michael Morris, the club’s Chief Medical Officer.
