Seattle Sounders talisman Nicolas Lodeiro has been called into the Uruguay national team for La Celeste's friendly against the Mexico national team next month.
Lodeiro has made 53 full international appearances, but narrowly missed out on making the final squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He made three appearances in both the 2010 and 2014 World Cups. The 29-year-old has been the catalyst for Seattle's recent six-game winning streak registering eight combined goals and assists. Two of the assists came in the Sounders' 5-0 win against the LA Galaxy on Saturday.
Uruguay will play Mexico on Sept. 7 in Houston during the FIFA international break. The Sounders are one of 17 MLS teams that will be idle that weekend.
