Mauro Manotas - Houston Dynamo - September 5, 2020

The Houston Dynamo are finalizing the transfer of Mauro Manotas to Liga MX's Club Tijuana, a source confirmed to MLSsoccer.com. Lester Grotsch of Univision Houston was first to report the news.

Manotas, 25, has 51 goals and 17 assists in 149 career appearances with the club. He helped guide Houston to winning the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, scoring a brace in the final. The Colombian forward endured a disappointing 2020 season, with just three goals and two assists in 20 appearances (15 starts).

Often linked with a lucrative transfer out of Houston, MLSsoccer.com reported last winter that La Liga club Granada had a bid rejected. There were multiple reports linking Manotas to the likes of Cruz Azul, Nantes, Montpellier, Saint Etienne and Porto over the last season or two.

Club Tijuana finished 15th in the Liga MX Apertura, which is wrapping up their playoffs soon.

The Dynamo also transferred fellow attacking star Alberth Elis earlier this year. He joined Portuguese club Boavista. With Elis and Manotas gone, the club are set to have two open Designated Player spots alongside Darwin Quintero.
