Gadi Kinda will not be joining the Israel national team for its upcoming UEFA Nations League matches, according to a Facebook post from the Israel Football Association.
Sporting Kansas City have declined to release Kinda because of "isolation restrictions" the midfielder would face upon his return to the United States, according to the post.
Presumably, that's in reference to the league's COVID-19 protocols, which have required players arriving from abroad to quarantine before joining new clubs or re-joining old ones.
FIFA recently adjusted its rules on matches played during the September international window so that clubs are not required to release players if they would be forced to quarantine upon return.
Israel are set to face Scotland away on Friday and then Slovakia at home on Sept. 7 in their first two Nations League contests of the new cycle.
