TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Transfer
Sporting Kansas City have transferred homegrown defender Kayden Pierre to Belgian top-flight side KRC Genk, the club announced Wednesday.
Pierre reportedly departs for over $1 million. Sporting KC maintain a sell-on fee in the 21-year-old right back.
After signing his homegrown deal in 2021, Pierre tallied two assists in 27 MLS matches for Sporting KC. He has three appearances for the US U-20 men's national team.
Pierre joined Sporting KC's academy from Vardar SC, an MLS NEXT club in his native Michigan.
Pierre joins midfielder Gianluca Busio and defender Erik Palmer-Brown as Sporting KC homegrown players in Europe. Busio is at Italian Serie A side Venezia, while Palmer-Brown competes for Greek Super League club Panathinaikos.
Through this summer, Genk was home to Philadelphia Union product Mark McKenzie. The US international defender recently joined French Ligue 1 side Toulouse.
