Chile national team coach Reinaldo Rueda revealed his roster for upcoming friendlies against Japan and South Korea, and Sporting Kansas City forward Diego Rubio was among the players called up.
Rubio, 25, is getting his first recall to the senior national team since he received his first three caps, back in 2011. For Sporting this season, he's found a vein of form of late, scoring seven goals and five assists in 15 MLS regular season appearances.
Chile will take on Japan in Sapporo on September 7, and then South Korea in Suwon on September 11.
Sporting KC have two additional call-ups to date for the September FIFA window – Daniel Salloi (Hungary) and Johnny Russell (Scotland) have also been called up, for UEFA Nations League matches.
