Teen dressed as Sacha Kljestan for Halloween got a treat when he met him

Sacha Kljestan - NYRB - with fans Paul Vernick and Jaret Gold

New York Red Bulls fan Paul Vernick decided to go trick or treating on Halloween dressed as Red Bulls midfielder Sacha Kljestan Monday. Imagine what a treat it was for Paul when he bumped into the real Sacha Kljestan (check out full story).

Vernick, a high school senior, lives in the same town as Kljestan, the midfielder who on Tuesday was named one of three finalists for MLS's Landon Donovan Most Valuable Player award, along with teammate Bradley Wright-Phillips and NYCFC's David Villa. Vernick and his friend, Jaret Gold -- who is also a Red Bulls fan -- went out in their Red Bulls jerseys and Vernick, who has dark hair, like Kljestan's put on a fake mustache. As costumes go, it was pretty simple, but it left no doubt as to who Vernick was supposed to be.

Kljestan, out trick or treating himself with his family, spotted Vernick and came right over.

“As we got right in front of him he bent down to ask his daughter a question: ‘Who do these people look like?’'' Vernick told Kristian Dyer of Metro. "His daughter responded ‘Daddy!’"
