Kei Kamara was the man of the moment heading into Saturday’s New England-Columbus clash and he did not disappoint, scoring for the Revs against his former team to guide them to a much-needed win.
Kamara was famously traded by Columbus to New England in controversial circumstances back in May, after he publicly called out teammate Federico Higuain following a penalty dispute. And though Crew SC have seemingly not missed a beat up top with the emergence of Ola Kamara – who found the net against the Revs – it was Kei who would get the last laugh in the first meeting with is former team.
In fact, you could almost make the case that his ex-teammates were just trying to set him up, as Chad Barson and Waylon Francis tripped over each other trying to clear the ball out of the Columbus area, leaving Kamara free to slam home his third goal for New England.
And while he didn't direct his celebration at his former team – rather, the Revs supporters in The Fort – you could tell he was feeling pretty good about himself as he let out a shout of joy while his new teammates piled on.
