Timbers Army, NYCFC acknowledge Pride, Soccer For All with displays

THUMB ONLY - Pride Tifo - Portland Timbers - June 2, 2018

MLS will be celebrating Soccer For All throughout the month of June, and the Portland Timbers coordinated with their Week 14 opponent, the LA Galaxy, on an effort to support Special Olympics Oregon, with 300-plus traveling fans holding a soccer ball and cash drive for the June 2nd match.

And prior to the kick, the Timbers Army, unfurled a Pride-themed tifo display at Providence Park.

Earlier, both the United States and Republic of Ireland national teams wore jerseys with numbers commemorating Pride month during their friendly. Pride honors the contributions of the LGBT community.

And with Orlando City SC visiting New York City FC on Saturday's Pride Night, the home club made a classy gesture, replicating the 49 rainbow-colored seats at Orlando City Stadium that honor the 49 victims of the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting.

Additionally, former MLS player and Real Salt Lake commentator Brian Dunseth joined those committed to playing for Pride:

The New England Revolution also celebrated Pride on Saturday, complete with tifo and signage around Gillette Stadium.

Observing Pride is part of the MLS's Soccer For All initiative, which promotes the league and the sport as a welcoming space for everyone regardless of race, color, religion, national origin or gender, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status.
