Could Chivas de Guadalajara midfielder Marco Fabian be the next Mexican international to join MLS?
That's the report from FOX Deportes, which says an unnamed MLS club is pursuing Fabian as a Designated Player, and the move would apparently include a transfer fee.
Fabian is the latest of a series of young Mexican national team players who have been linked with MLS in recent years. While Giovani Dos Santos made a big splash with his move to the LA Galaxy during the 2015 season, and Erick "Cubo" Torres leveraged his strong form in MLS into his first El Tri caps, more Mexico regulars have been rumored to be mulling moves stateside, including Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and Carlos Vela.
Fabian, 26, is a Chivas academy product and has spent his entire professional career to date with the club, aside from a loan spell in 2014 with fellow Liga MX side Cruz Azul. He helped win the Copa MX this season, but has not been especially prolific this season, making 12 appearances and scoring three goals for Guadalajara.
On the international level, he won the 2012 Olympic gold medal for Mexico, alongside Dos Santos and he has also notched 25 senior caps for El Tri, featuring in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Should he join MLS, Fabian wouldn't be the first member of his family to be involved in MLS, as his father, also named Marco, was an assistant coach at Chivas USA in 2013.
