US men's national team head coach Gregg Berhalter on Thursday revealed his final 23-man roster for the 2019 Gold Cup, with 16 MLS players featuring in the squad that will compete for the top prize in North American soccer.
The roster bears many similarities to the 28-man squad that fell to Jamaica in a tune-up friendly on Wednesday night, though star men Christian Pulisic and Tyler Adams will now join the squad ahead of the Gold Cup. Per Berhalter, Pulisic will arrive in camp on Thursday and Adams will arrive on June 11. The US have one more friendly, on June 9 in Cincinnati against Venezuela (2 pm ET | FOX), before they kick off Gold Cup play against Guyana on June 18.
Among MLS teams, Toronto FC and Columbus Crew SC lead the way with three representatives apiece. The Crew will send forward Gyasi Zardes, midfielder Wil Trapp and goalkeeper Zack Steffen, who will be departing the club to join Manchester City following the Gold Cup, with a possible loan to the Bundesliga on the cards. Toronto's contingent includes veterans Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore, as well as newly-signed center back Omar Gonzalez, who this week made the move back to MLS from Liga MX's Club Atlas.
LAFC and the Seattle Sounders both feature two players on the roster, while NYCFC, San Jose, the New York Red Bulls, Montreal, D.C. United and Colorado all feature a player each.
