United States youth international Indiana Vassilev is heading to English League One side Burton Albion on a season-long loan from Aston Villa, a move likely to give the 19-year-old regular first-team action.
The Bulgarian-American who represented the US at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup and has made two appearances for the U-20 team has been at Aston Villa since 2018. He enjoyed a productive spell with Villa's Premier League 2 side last year, scoring six goals in 14 matches. He also appeared in four Premier League games for the Villains and two more matches between the FA and League Cups, for a total of 79 minutes.
Burton are just one match into their league campaign after having finished 12th in the 24-team League One last season, a campaign shortened by COVID-19.
Vassilev is still waiting on his first cap for the senior US men's national team.
