The US men’s national team didn’t play any matches in August, but that didn’t stop them from moving up in the FIFA rankings, improving one spot to slide to No. 28 in the world.
Mexico didn’t move in the rankings, remaining at No. 26. CONCACAF placed four other countries in the top 60, with Costa Rica moving down one spot to 39th, Jamaica moving up three places to 52nd, Trinidad & Tobago sliding up two spots to 54th and Panama moving up six places to 59th.
Canada – who will resume their World Cup qualifying campaign on Friday with the first leg of their home-and-home series against Belize – dropped one spot in the rankings to 102nd.
The top seven teams in the rankings remained unchanged, with Argentina, Belgium and Germany filling the top three spots. Chile moved up two spots to No. 8, while England dropped two places to No. 10. Wales remains at No. 9, marking the first time in their history that they’re ranked higher than England.
