AT&T Goal of the Week: Week 23
After a weekend packed with goals and drama, some of Major League Soccer's top goalscorers, top players and top teams are up for the AT&T Goal of the Week award.
Three of the nominees are 2015 MLS All-Stars, while the other two came from two of the top teams in the Western Conference.
But the week started with Toronto FC standout Sebastian Giovinco, whose Wednesday hat trick included a stunning free kick that banked in off the left post. Giovinco was involved in a Goal of the Week nominee on Saturday as well, setting up Michael Bradley for an emotional tying goal, although Toronto FC eventually fell to a 3-1 defeat.
One of the league's newest Designated Players, Giovani Dos Santos, earned his nomination in his MLS debut on Sunday afternoon with a fine left-footed finish to cap the LA Galaxy's 3-1 win over the Seattle Sounders.
Left-footed players also joined the fray, with Houston Dynamo defender DaMarcus Beasley slaloming through the San Jose Earthquakes back line for his first MLS goal since the 2003 MLS Cup final and Vancouver Whitecaps attacker Cristian Techera rifling a low blast from outside the box, both helping earn wins for their respective clubs.
