AT&T Goal of the Week: Week 27
Could Didier Drogba’s first Montreal Impact goal take home AT&T MLS Goal of the Week honors?
The Ivorian striker got on the board in style on Saturday night, scoring a hat trick to power the Impact to a huge 4-3 home win against the Chicago Fire. His first strike is nominated for Goal of the Week, with the Designated Player’s spinning finish of a Nigel Reo-Coker cross one of five nominees for the Week 27 honors.
Joining Drogba in the running for the weekly award is another star DP, Sounders forward Obafemi Martins. The Nigerian striker is nominated for his finish of Clint Dempsey’s wonderful chipped ball in Seattle’s 2-1 home win against Toronto FC on Saturday.
Philadelphia forward Conor Casey kept his team in contention on Saturday, scoring both of the Union’s goals in their 2-1 win at San Jose. His second – a flicked header off a set piece in the 86th minute – is in the running for Goal of the Week.
FC Dallas attacker Michael Barrios and New England Revolution midfielder Diego Fagundez fill out the field, with Barrios nominated for his long run and strike in Dallas' win at Columbus and Fagundez is up for his finish of a spectacular sequence in the Revs’ 3-0 win against Orlando.
