AT&T Goal of the Week: Week 3

Saturday was a down day for goalscoring in Major League Soccer, with six games combining to produce just five goals. But Sunday did its best to make up the gap, adding five more goals to the total across two games, leaving Week 3 with some outstanding strikes that now await your vote for the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week.

Perhaps Saturday's most exciting play came from Vancouver Whitecaps forward Octavio Rivero, who gave his club a dramatic 1-0 win with his stoppage-time diving header to beat Orlando City. Prefer goals scored by the foot? FC Dallas second-year midfielder Ryan Hollingshead angled a beauty into the corner in his club's 2-0 win over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday afternoon.

For a solo effort, 2014 MLS MVP Robbie Keane stole the show on Saturday, running more than 40 yards with the ball and beating two Houston Dynamo defenders to open the scoring in the LA Galaxy's 1-1 tie with Houston in Saturday's late game.

Then, as we mentioned, Sunday brought the goals. The New York Red Bulls won their home opener in convincing fashion, but our nominees come from the second game, with San Jose Earthquakes rookie and recent US Under-23 callup Fatai Alashe scoring a close-range goal that will live long in Earthquakes lore and got San Jose on their way to a 2-1 win. The goal on the other side came courtesy of some excellent passing, with the Chicago Fire's Harry Shipp providing the cool finishing touch.

So which goal from Week 3 was the best? Vote now, and the winner will be announced on Friday on the basis of your online votes.
