The New England Revolution and FC Dallas played to an eventful 2-2 draw in the 2018 Mobile Sun Mini Cup on Tuesday. The match featured some strong performances from new signings on each side as well as a red card.
Mauro Diaz made a welcome return to the scoresheet when he put back a rebound from just outside the six-yard box. New Revs addition Cristian Penilla continued his strong preseason form when he swept home the equalizer following a long throw in to make the scores level at the half.
Santiago Mosquera, officially signed by Dallas on Monday, played a key part in Dallas' second goal when he took the ball the length of the field before centering for Maxi Urruti to get the final touch. Birthday boy Diego Fagundez would ensure the game finished tied when he slammed home a loose ball late on.
New Revs addition Wilfried Zahibo was also shown a red card early in the game for a hard challenge, but the teams agreed to keep playing at 11-v-11, with Fagundez replacing Zahibo. These were the starting lineups for both teams:
