WATCH: Michael de Leeuw introduced by Chicago Fire at 3:30 pm ET

Sure, Jonathan Campbell's been great, but the Chicago Fire need goals – and plenty of them. Last in MLS in scoring, the Fire hope Dutch forward Michael de Leeuw can help put the ball in the back of the net.

After a prolonged chase for his signature, the 29-year-old attacker – who's already training with the team – will be formally introduced to the media today alongside GM Nelson Rodríguez and head coach Veljko Paunovic at Toyota Park. You can watch the press conference live at 3:30 pm ET.

The signing, originally rumored in February, finally came down on May 17, when the Fire announced de Leeuw would be joining the team after the Secondary Transfer Window opens July 4.

He joins the Fire from FC Groningen, where he's played for the past four seasons. From 2012-16, de Leeuw appeared in 117 league matches, scoring 46 goals – including three hat-tricks – in Eredivisie play, leading his side in scoring during the 2015-16, 2014-15 and 2012-13 seasons. He also appeared in five UEFA Europa League games for The Pride of the North.
