On Friday, Aug. 19 Minnesota United held an event at CHS Field in St. Paul, Minn. where an announcement was made regarding the "next chapter" for soccer in Minnesota.

Speakers included MLS commissioner Don Garber, Minnesota United majority owner Dr. William McGuire, Minnesota governor Mark Dayton, and Saint Paul mayor Chris Coleman.
Minnesota was awarded an expansion team in March 2015 and in October of the same year announced plans for a new soccer stadium in St. Paul.
