Sporting Kansas City signed Cam Duke as a Homegrown Player in July 2019. A native of Overland Park, Kansas, the versatile midfielder is the 11th Homegrown Player in club history. Duke entered the Sporting Kansas City Academy in 2012, rising from the U-12 to the U-19 ranks, and has represented United States youth national teams at the U-14, U-15, U-16 and U-18 levels.
2022: MLS Regular Season: Started 13 of 26 appearances, tallying three assists (1219 minutes played). Assisted on Roger Espinoza's score vs. the Chicago Fire on March 19 for his first MLS assist. Teed up Daniel Salloi's match-level vs. FC Dallas on April 30, at Children's Mercy Park. Earned his third assist setting up Johnny Russell on May 22 at the San Jose Earthquakes. Open Cup: Started three matches in Sporting's Open Cup run (282 minutes played). MLS NEXT Pro: Started three matches for SKC II in the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season.
2021: MLS Regular Season: Started six of 16 appearances and scored two goals (657 minutes played). Scored his first MLS goal on July 25 after coming on as a substitute in a match at the Seattle Sounders. Started and scored in a 4-0 mashing of Minnesota United on Sept, 15. MLS Cup Playoffs: Did not feature. Leagues Cup: Started and scored against Leon. USL Championship: Made four appearances, scoring once.
2020: MLS regular season: Started two of eight appearances (218 minutes played). Made his MLS regular season debut in a 2-1 road win over Minnesota United FC on Aug. 21. Made his first professional start in a 1-1 draw against FC Dallas on Sept. 2. MLS is Back Tournament: Made one substitute appearance (6 minutes played). Made his club debut in the quarterfinals against the Philadelphia Union on July 30. MLS Cup Playoffs: Did not feature.
2019: MLS regular season: Did not feature. Concacaf Champions League: Did not feature. Open Cup: Did not feature.
SPORTING KC ACADEMY
Before turning professional, Duke helped the Sporting KC Academy U-19s reach the quarterfinals of the 2019 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs. After the U-19s secured the No. 4 overall seed with a 16-4-3 regular-season record, Duke spearheaded a first-place finish in the group stage with a goal and an assist.
Duke was one of the most heralded players of the 2019 high school class. He was the No. 1 prospect in the Heartland Region and the 20th-ranked player nationally at TopDrawerSoccer.com, having graduated from Blue Valley West High School in May 2019.
Duke’s 2016-17 and 2017-18 Development Academy campaigns both culminated with postseason honors. He earned Central Conference Best XI accolades in 2017 alongside current Sporting teammate Gianluca Busio, leading the Sporting KC U-16s to their first-ever appearance in the Development Academy quarterfinals. Last summer, Duke was named the 2018 Central Conference Player of the Year after pacing the U-17s to a playoff berth with four goals in 19 league matches and also featuring for the U-19s.
INTERNATIONAL
On the international stage, Duke competed at several training camps with the United States U-14s and U-15s before guiding the U.S. U-16 Boys’ National Team to a third-place finish at the Val-de-Marne Tournament in France in October 2016. The following February, Duke joined the same team for a training camp in Buenos Aires, Argentina, highlighted by three friendlies against local clubs.
Duke earned his first of several calls to the U.S. U-18 Men's National Team in November 2017 and competed at the inaugural Youth National Team Summit in January 2018. He featured for the U.S. U-18s in a pair of friendlies against the Costa Rica U-18s shortly after training with Sporting’s first team during the club’s 2018 preseason in Scottsdale, Arizona.
