A product of Surrey, BC, Badwal first joined the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy as a 13-year-old in 2019 and became the 26th all-time academy player to sign an MLS contract with the club.

Badwal agreed to an MLS contract as a Homegrown player through 2027, with club options for 2028 and 2029.

'25: Badwal played a key role with the first team in 2025, making 33 appearances and starting 12 matches across all competitions. The Surrey, BC native’s most memorable moment of the year came on June 8 as he scored his first goal for the club in his first home start, all coming in a Cascadia rivalry match against Seattle Sounders FC. Badwal also tallied three assists throughout the course of the year, grabbing his first helper for the club in the road win over LAFC on June 29. 

'24: Badwal signed with the first team on September 13, agreeing to an MLS Homegrown contract through 2027, with club options for 2028 and 2029. Prior to that, the native of Surrey, BC signed four MLS short-term agreements with the first team during the season. His first call-up was in February for the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup Round One against Tigres UANL and his second call-up was for the MLS regular season away match at New England Revolution in June. The midfielder earned his first team debut in his third call-up, as he came on as a substitute in the 2024 TELUS Canadian Championship semfinal first leg against Pacific FC at Starlight Stadium. His final call-up saw him named to the bench for the home match against FC Dallas on September 7. In addition, Badwal started 19 of his 22 appearances for Whitecaps FC 2 in MLS NEXT Pro, notching two goals and one assist.
