Kwame Awuah

Kwame Awuah joins St. Louis CITY2 as a defender ahead of the inaugural 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season, following stints at various clubs, including the Major League Soccer (MLS) team New York City FC. 

Awuah grew up in Toronto, Canada and played for various local youth teams before making the switch to the University of Connecticut men’s soccer team in 2013. In 2014, Awuah signed with his youth club, Sigma FC and was named to the League1 Ontario Western Conference All-Star Team in 2016.

After an impressive college career, he was invited to the MLS Combine, and was drafted 16th overall by New York City FC in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. He spent two seasons with New York City FC before signing for Canadian Premier League (CPL) club Forge FC. Awuah helped Forge FC to two CPL championships, the first one in 2019 and the other a year later in 2020.
